Cancellation again!

Today my class three patient cancelled again. I don't want to bring her back because she didn't call me either time. I guess she just doesn't feel like it's important to let me know. I am finished with my recquirements, I just need to do a few PE's but my patients keep no showing!! THe faculty are being understanding about it. That's a relief! Today I cleaned my little sister's teeth. She is such a talker!! It's fun and i like it, but I was just trying to make sure I got her finished. She has a periodontal abcess. Instructor Perry says it's chronic because it's huge and it's expanded slowly. An acute would be just a distinct small black spot. Poor T!! She has to get a root canal or it extracted.The last dentist she saw didn't see it in the Pano. I want to get the Pano and make sure it wasn't visible because if it was!!! He's going to get it!! J/k. Well one more clinic session left!! I hope I can get a good patient.!

KIDS!!!

This morning my patient no showed. Luckily I was able to work on one of Joni's patients. I did one quad and I was able to pass off two PE's now I need to pass off three more to make it enough for this semester. I only have three more clinic sessions. But this afternoon my cute nieces came in to get their teeth cleaned. THey are so cute!! Sydney was pretty scared. She didn't want to get in the chair or let me put water in her mouth. Pretty much she just wanted me to show everything to her slowly and talk to her about. She did way better. She didn't even ask me what the scaler was eventually. But she raised her hand and said. Please don't put that on my gums because it will cut my gums.... That was so funny! She was pretty tough. She did well, I thought she wouldn't want me to leave her, but she was okay with it. She was afraid of the light she got really scared when I told her I was going to turn on the light. She was scared it would hurt her eyes. SO luckily I had the sunglasses out. SHe was okay after that. Saidey was not scared at all. She didn't talk as much as sydney. She just liked to look in the mirror and did a couple of cheer songs. She's so cute!!! They actually both had calculus. Sydney had more. IT was weird I had to apply pressure to their teeth. They did really well with that they didn't care. Well it was a great day!!! ( besides the no show) Goal for next time call my patient sooner if they don't show!! And confirm with them very firmly the night before. Explain the importance as the semester is ending.

Lab and class3...1B

Today I thought I was going to have my class three pt come in. But she had to cancel and my sister came in. She's a 1B. It was fun. I did saliva test and diagnodent PE's on her. I hope my class three can come in again. Ineed to pass of some PE"s on her and have her as an exam pt. I am having my neices come in next week. I'm very excited!! my goal for next time is to send them their health histories. BYE

MOCKBOARD

OKay so one thing I know i need to work on is... PAPERWORK! I have a hard time with that. I wasn't sure what to take them at what time. But it worked out fine. My patient was almost twenty minutes late!! So I was ten minutes late for check in. THis was supposed to take thirty minutes off my scale time. BUt I think I did pretty good at the check in part if I did it only ten minutes late... That's pretty much ten minutes early :) I should get bonus points!! J/k ONe thing I need to look for in a board patient is a BIG mouth!! MY pt's mouth was pretty small. It was difficult to fit my ultra sonic in at the correct angles. BUt I think it was okay. I didn't think I'd do that well, but I only missed two spots. Atleast I could feel them with my explorer. I was one minute late for check out. That took off three. oops.
Being an examiner for mockboard was pretty good too. I got to feel the calculus and I think I did pretty well finding it. But I was a little shy to say "this is calculus" I felt it but I would've been more confident to try getting it off then say this is calculus.

-find pt with big mouth, least crowding possible,easily removed calculus,no third molars, I think that's all
Dr. Nayler said she cleaned her pt up before her boards so there wasn't too much to do... just enough. That's a good Idea. I feel Like I spend a lot of time on the anteriors, but I don't get credit for that area really.
